研究方向为早期胚胎发育中的谱系调控、利用全能性细胞构建类胚胎和功能性组织、利用干细胞进行同种或异种嵌合。首次开发了全能性人8细胞样细胞诱导体系,并从多组学层面完整地描绘了诱导过程中的关键分子事件和基因调控网络;通过优化多能干细胞培养体系和胚胎嵌合技术,首次实现了肾脏发育缺陷猪体内再造人源化中肾组织;首次获得具有高嵌合率的猴-猴嵌合活体的制备;筛选出调控人原始态多能干细胞分化为人滋养外胚层细胞的关键因子。以(共)第一或通讯作者在Nature(Nature Methods发表专评)、Cell(封面文章,Nature发表专评)、Cell Stem Cell(封面文章,Science发表专评)、Nature Cell Biology、Nature Communications等高水平杂志发表相关成果,相关成果获得新华社、人民日报、泰晤士报、卫报、纽约时报等国内外媒体广泛报道。
